If love were light, then you would be the dawn,
The moment grey retreats and warmth begins.
I find my truest self when you are near —
And every day with you, I start again.

No poem holds the whole of what I feel,
But still I write, because you make it real.

There once was a fellow named James,
Who forgot to remember my name —
But he bought me a card,
And tried very hard,
So I guess that he wins at this game.

Your laugh fills the room.
Even silence with you blooms.
Home is where you are.

I don't have the right words
for what it feels like to be loved by you.

But I know it feels like
the first real breath after a long time holding on.
